After almost 2 years of blood, sweat, cursing, and tears, we are finally able to resume moving forward with deploying newer software to the farm. During that time, we’ve had to entirely overhaul both our hardware and software infrastructure, work which has only been partially completed. Fortunately, the bulk of that work is done, so we’ve started to roll out some new render apps and engines once again.
The first of the new stuff released was a new agent, version 4.01, recently released for both Mac and PC. This agent has had several library changes under the hood, which should result in better file transfer performance among other improvements. The new agent version was also necessary to support newer render app builds, some of which are already enabled. The agents still self-update, so many of our clients are already running them. Let us know if you’re having any trouble with the new build, as there may be some edge case scenarios that exhibit problems that we didn’t test.
There are two new render app versions presently enabled in the new agent, Cinema 4D 2024 and Blender 4.2. An extremely important note about Cinema 4D 2024 and Redshift is this: we have very limited hardware support for that combination at present. We are working to expand that as quickly as possible within cash flow, so please bear with us during that ongoing expansion. All other render app and engine combinations are not as constricted as that specific combo. We’ll provide more information as we continue to roll out newer builds in the coming weeks. Thanks for hanging in there with us!
